Need You
HISTORY. In the summer of 2005 I went on a trip during which time I had the privilege of staying overnight in homes instead of hotels. I was treated with love and honor, but it quickly became clear that two of the families were experiencing pretty traumatic life-challenges. In both homes, I saw pain and heard questions. Yet both families were joining Job in the sentiment, "Though He slay me, yet will I praise Him." I arrived home happy and excited about what God had done on the trip, but within four hours I found myself in a state of complete agitation. I was so upset that I grabbed my Bible and headed to my bedroom for a "time out" with God. I sat down, only to pop right back up again: The anxiety I felt was acute. As I paced frantically, seeking relief from God, I ended up sitting down at the piano. Immediately this entire song, including words and music, came into my head and I wrote it down. The song was completed within 15 minutes. This song is dedicated to my good friends and hospitality homes - you know who you are! Forgive us! We got a bit charismatic on the repeats because we just couldn't quit singing. You'll see: This song gets in your head!
