In the dream, I was wearing super-high heeled shoes. Every chance I could, I'd take them off and go barefoot. At other times, I just couldn't do my work wearing them, so I'd trade them out for tennis shoes or slip-ons.
But, because I had started off wearing the high heels, I found myself "needing" them in order to fulfill certain roles. In the dream, it was frustrating. As I reflected on it, it was rather humorous.
The next morning, in Sunday School, our teacher said, "It's important not to try to be someone you aren't."
It was the craziest moment! I mean, I'm always, always reminding you and everybody I meet to be "fully you!" I preach this!
But, somehow, subconsciously, I've been feeling "not quite enough." You know--like "not wearing high heels" was not OK. There was an underlying "pull" to be something/someone I'm not.
The dream, followed by the conscious awareness, helped me release a subconscious longing to be "that other girl!" You know, the "classy lady" in high heels with coiffed hair and manicured nails.
That's not me! I'm much more of a sportswear type of gal, who doesn't mind doing dishes at the restaurants, and simply loves being simple me!
So, how about it? I dare you to take your own version of the "high heel" test and ask God to reveal to you if there's anywhere you're trying to be someone He never created you to be.
If you see something, kick into the 4Rs: Recognize, release, receive peace & respond with praise.
